Do I need any paid third-party APIs?+

No. Gold rates come from the public IBJA mirror, AR uses MediaPipe (Apache 2.0) running on the customer's own phone, and clienteling uses local heuristics — no LLM, no API key, no per-call cost.

Can I run this for non-jewellery retail?+

Yes. Item types: jewellery, watch, sunglasses, accessory, leather, other. Pick a type when you register; jewellery-only fields (HUID, metal weight, karigar, old-gold) hide automatically for other verticals.

Where is the data stored?+

On your own server. JewelID runs as Node + MySQL — deploy on a Hostinger VPS, your own DC, or any cloud. We never see your inventory.

Is it BIS / HUID compliant?+

Yes. The system enforces the 6-character HUID format, stores your BIS jeweller ID, and timestamps verification.

What hardware do I need to start?+

Minimum: an iT4R desktop printer + a roll of UHF labels + a CX1500N PDA. The display antenna trays are optional — they make showroom theatre, but you can start without them.

Does it work in patchy network?+

The PDA caches scans locally and syncs when WiFi is back. The web app degrades gracefully — read-only when offline.
